cookingNestled within a spectacular fortified Medieval circular village with views to the pre-Alpine Baronnies hills and close to Mont Ventoux, the house called ‘Les Colonnes’ (The Columns) is situated in Saint Romain en Viennois, in the northern part of the Vaucluse region of Provence. The house is sheltered by a romanesque church in the heart of the village and offers charm and comfort in a quiet setting with friendly neighbours. The ancient house was renovated in 2006 into a beautiful 3-bedroom family home. The property a private courtyard plus two terraces and a balcony for enjoying the views and for convivial al fresco dining. One terrace is in a secluded courtyard with access to a garden with an olive tree and lavender.

Saint Romain en Viennois has a café, a pizzeria and a municipal tennis court. It's only three kilometres outside Vaison La Romaine, a fashionable summer resort featuring a partially excavated Roman town and a stunning Medieval district. Vaison's colourful Tuesday open-air market is one of the largest in Provence. The Roman theatre hosts a modern dance festival during July and other musical events during the rest of the summer. Every three years Vaison hosts an international choral festival, Les Choralies, last held in August 2013.

The surrounding countryside is famous for its wine (Côtes du Rhône Villages Puyméras and Côtes du Ventoux), its olives (AOC Nyons), excellent cycling and walking. Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Arles, the Camargue and Mediterranean beaches are all easy day trips.
